Red Thread Interviews

In the first in the series of Red Thread Issue 5 interviews we present you with the extensive discussion with the issue editors Jelena Vesić and Vladimir Jerić Vlidi. Run by the artist and Red Thread Editorial Board member Zeyno Pekünlü, the interview covers the current global media context, particular geopolitical positions, and provides the connections with the texts selected for the Red Thread issue 5.

In this episode of Red Thread Interviews, Ahmet Ersoy, who contributed to the issue with his text titled “Neo-Ottomanism in the Age of Digital Media”, examines the effects of social isolation, estrangement and de-skilling experienced in the contemporary world and intensified through the pandemic. By revisiting his text in the issue, Ahmet Ersoy and Zeyno Pekünlü discusses the construction of organized loneliness by networked environments and the possibilities of subversion against the uniformized communications of commercialized digital media.

Editor’s Note

Our slow and infrequent publishing platform of Red Thread journal presents its new issue, investigating the new-old topic of the contemporary right-wing use of media.
